Business leaders to offer advice on landing first job

A panel of Chicago business leaders will discuss what they expect from college graduates when hiring new employees during a forum Jan. 12 in Hinsdale.

Recent graduates also will share what they found most useful in landing a job during the free community forum at The Community House, 415 W. Eighth St., Hinsdale. The program, sponsored by Lawrence University, begins with a reception at 5:30 p.m. followed by a presentation/discussion at 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 12.

Corporate representatives participating in the Succeeding with a Liberal Arts Education program are Ed Rust, chairman and CEO of State Farm Companies; Dave Knapp, senior vice president at Northern Trust; Kent Rose, senior vice president and general counsel at Beam Suntory; and Susan Long Hall, president of 95 Percent Group

Providing the recent graduate perspective will be Jared Marchant, an officer with Northern Trust, and Andrew Wong, an associate at McKinsey & Company. Marchant and Wong are 2013 and 2006 Lawrence graduates, respectively.
